Re: opportunity to help (was Re: [WISPA] Hurricane? - worsethanmediasays)
Yikes guys! Let me know if there's something I can do. I'm not ready to ship gear that you may or may not need, nor am I ready to send money that'll go places I may not want it to go. Send me something specific and I'll see what I can come up with. Good luck and God speed. What will happen is if we come across survivors - we will radio in their coords to a cental location - drop off water / food and then move on to our hunt for the dead. This is really fuckin depressing - pardon my french, but needs to be done. They are expecting it to take atleast 2 months AFTER the water starts to recede to pump off the water around New Orleans and surrounding areas. There will be NO FIX for the levees being breached or broken unfortunately - but they will make a last ditch effort. Regardless of what the MEDIA is saying - and being told - New Orleans is experiencing the Fish Bowl effect that everyone hoped wouldn't happen - The Dodged the bullet was a false statement and anyone who has absolutely any clue realizes just how tragic this will end up being In the long run. To put it simply - a MAJOR city in the US has just been wiped off of the map completely... Who cares what they "say"? I'm wondering if there's some way we c ould get FEMA to fund a group of us going down there and basically putting in an infrastructure so that communication is possible. We could have lots of data and VOIP capability real fast, compared to the telcos.
