[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 13906] RTP Player Format Error
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13906 --- Comment #18 from Travis--- One thing I have found from experimenting with different settings, using the latest build 2.5.0-503. When I check the "Disable all sound effects" in my playback device properties in Windows (See second attachment to this bug), I get the error when I have Realtek High Def Audio selected for the output device in RTP Player. If I use "Default Output Device" in the RTP player, it does not return the error. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe

[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 13906] RTP Player Format Error
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13906 --- Comment #15 from Gerald Combs--- After installing 2.5.0-497 on a test machine here playback through the default device works, but none of the other devices work. For example, selecting "Speakers (VIA High Definition Audio)" results in the error "Speakers (VIA High Definition Audio) does not support PCM at 48000 Hz, Int16LE. Preferred format is 48000 Hz, Int16LE". It looks like we need to add more QAudioFormat attributes to that error message, e.g. sample size, codec, and channel count. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe

[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 13906] RTP Player Format Error
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13906 --- Comment #9 from Gerald Combs--- I think I introduced this problem in gd59653f, which added the output device combobox. Prior to that change the RTP player used Qt's default audio device, which in turn uses the special WAVE_MAPPER device on Windows. WAVE_MAPPER can apparently handle more formats than the underlying hardware can in some cases. Change 22756 attempts to fix this in two ways: by adjusting the output sample rate to match the current device, and by adding the WAVE_MAPPER device ("Default Output Device") to the output device list. I can't easily test on physical Windows hardware here so it might require additional tweaking. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe

Then perhaps your PC and Travis's PC have different sound hardware or drivers, with different preferred formats, and 44100 Hz is correct for Travis's machine and 48000 Hz is correct for your machine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe

Sounds like a Qt 5.9.x bug (or a 5.7.x or 5.8.x bug still not fixed in 5.9.1), perhaps one that only shows up on Windows 10 (or possibly also Windows 9^W8.1 and possibly also Windows 8). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe

[Wireshark-bugs] [Bug 13906] RTP Player Format Error
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13906 --- Comment #1 from Guy Harris--- That string comes from RtpAudioStream::startPlaying(): QAudioFormat format; format.setSampleRate(audio_out_rate_); format.setSampleSize(sample_bytes_ * 8); // bits format.setSampleType(QAudioFormat::SignedInt); format.setChannelCount(1); format.setCodec("audio/pcm"); // RTP_STREAM_DEBUG("playing %s %d samples @ %u Hz", // tempfile_->fileName().toUtf8().constData(), // (int) tempfile_->size(), audio_out_rate_); if (!cur_out_device.isFormatSupported(format)) { QString playback_error = tr("%1 does not support PCM at %2. Preferred format is %3") .arg(cur_out_device.deviceName()) .arg(formatDescription(format)) .arg(formatDescription(cur_out_device.nearestFormat(format))); emit playbackError(playback_error); } and cur_out_device is a QAudioDeviceInfo, so the underlying problem is probably somewhere in Qt. 2.2.8 for Windows may have been built with a different version of Qt. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.___ Sent via:Wireshark-bugs mailing list Archives:https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-bugs Unsubscribe: https://www.wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-bugs mailto:wireshark-bugs-requ...@wireshark.org?subject=unsubscribe
