command prompt indicating to look for VS2015 x64 Native Tools Command Prompt.

I see that now. Perhaps it should be mentioned in documentation somewhere?
I'll check to see how well it works on Ubuntu Desktop 17.10.

You don't need the code only, just the distro for your dev-environment.
Code-only would only be needed, if you want to build your own version of
Qt. The binary only takes about 2GB.
