Heh, they are not as mutually exclusive as you might think. I haven't tried it myself, but WiX 3.0 will (I'm told) generate the registry entries for you using heat.exe - they come out as a Fragment element which can be slotted into the main install. I'm using WiX 2.0 and achieve the same thing
