Does WebAppPool try to create application pools on Windows XP? I was under the

Hi,
I am selecting a bootstrapper for my msi and am looking into Burn in
3.5.0529.0. Is this version stable enough for serious use?
If yes, is there any document giving more details about how to use burn? This
is the only document I can find about burn:

I saw that too. We decided to try a different path and I think we are
on a better track now, however it still remains unresolved as of yet.

Can Heat be used to harvest a TLB file's registry settings to be used in
an install? If so, are there any switches I should look at using?
Thanks,

Pretty much any error that Windows Installer has with the SCM gets
"translated" into that error message (it doesn't ever provide the actual
error that the service APIs returned). Thus, you can't assume it really is
an access denied. That part is just a hint (for non-.NET code, that is the

Look up WixNetFxExtension in the 3.5 CHM. You'll see all the properties listed.
In your case, you probably either want to reference the property

As for light.exe failing, that's a separate issue from the property reference,

Hi Yan,
Thank you for your reply. I read the web page as you recommended. It is very
helpful.
I would like to ask whether it is possible to write the first installation and
upgrade in the same msi. The msi shall check if it is new install or upgrade.
If it is upgrade, then do some custom actio
