The changes are intentional to straighten out the mess of our libraries. It
was not the goal to break setupexe.
However, setupexe isn't really "taken care of" in WiX v3.6 since Burn
basically replaces it so it might get bounced around some.

Since I build projects that use the setupbld-style bootstrapper, and since I
have customized the setupexe project to a degree, I now have a dependency on

The problem is your
The problem is your MediaTemplate element--it is mutually exclusive with the
Media element. MediaTemplate is a new element with Wix 3.6.

Assuming that you have that custom action in both old and new setups, take a
look at the entire log. It might be happening when the old install is being
removed and the service is really not there because the condition doesn't look
right to me, if my thinking is correct.

New to WiX.
I created a simple install project that has basic functionality.
However, its creating a separate cab file.
When I add:
I get a compile error of duplicate media id.
I can't find the duplicate anywhere. Can't find a way to specify that the
cab is embedded.
Any ideas?

CustomActionData is actually per custom action, although it sometimes appears
that there is only one for all custom actions. Basically, if you have a custom
action called Fred that you want to pass data into, you create an immediate
set-a-property custom action (type 51 in MSI) that sets Fred to
I have a couple of deferred custom actions to which I need to pass parameters.
Obviously for a single custom action I'd just set the CustomActionData
property. Do I have to pack all parameters for each custom action into
CustomActionData and have each action extract its own parameters somehow or
Is it possible to set the font used for edit controls? (I'd like to make one
fixed pitch). I know you can use, eg, Text="{\WixUI_Font_Normal}..." for text
controls but this doesn't appear to work for edit controls.
Thanks

We have been using /layout delivered in the October beta version. It
functioned fine other than not always using the local copy which I think has
since been fixed.
With all the discussion about /layout, what is the direction you are
planning on taking.

Is this something new? I'm using the "Official" October beta release and
can't find anything about a layout-only payload.
