Hi Carlos,

I really cannot make it work.  In either LibreOffice (LO) apps,
right-click titlebar, Attributes, Window Specification (I have it in
Portuguese so the name can differ from my translation).  The selected
choice is the first one: libreoffice.libreoffice-writer.  If I try to
change to libreoffice-writer, apply, save, next time I open LO Writer,
the chosen specification is again the first one.

I already chose "Shared application icon", but AFAICT, it's meant to
be able to open another window of some application.

Would you mind telling me what to you have as options for LO?

I don't find documentation for several of the options available in
Attributes.  For example: Emulate applicqn icon, focus across
workspaces, do not show in the switch panel, etc.  Where do I find the
explanation of these options?

I tested it here myself before sending that email, so it works here.
When I type soffice --writer one icon is created while with --calc
a different icon is created.

I don't know why it doesn't work in your wmaker (I assume
you already went through the options under the "Attributes..."
menu).

for example for LibreOffice Writer, when I open LibreOffice Calc, no
other item is created at the bottom, and the icon on the dock
sometimes changes to the one of Calc's.  Tried it in another system
and behaviour is not very different.

Are you able to add two or more icons for LibreOffice applications in
your system, or did you just tell me the general procedure?


I tried other applications.  For Vivaldi and Chromium icons are not created.
I've already seen this:

Of course.

Open the word processor from a terminal with

soffice --writer

and drag its icon to the dock.

After that do the same for 

soffice --calc

new instance upon double click. i followed the instructions below in the

My response might have completely no sense, but you might test: xrandr
I recall, it helped me some time ago in similar issues.

You might want to use "gnome-control-center" too, to modify resolutions,
screen setup (even, when using wmaker)

This is my configuration that might not help you at all, but see this an
example:

Leave only laptop screen:
xrandr --output DP1 --off
xrandr --output DP2 --off
xrandr --output eDP1 --mode 1920x1080


Clone laptop to external monitor:
xrandr --output DP1 --mode 1920x1080 --same-as eDP1

Dock and windows positioned incorrectly after change resolution

Hi,

After I changed the resolution from 1024x768 (default) to 1920x1200 (my
monitor), the Dock stills is in the original position. Besides, when I try
to move a window to the right, out of the 1024x768 area, sometime the
window manager forbids me from doing this.

How can I solve these 2 issues? Thanks.

Hi,
Up to WindowMaker 0.95.3 I had the possibility to hide all docked
icons and dockapps by sliding the dock down to the bottom right of the
screen, leaving only the dock icon visible. Recently updated to 0.95.5,
and now when I slide the dock down , the bottom most docked icon
reappear at the top of the screen , like in a loop...
Is there a way to have the older behaviour back? Can't find the
settings for that.

Adding icons to the Dock not working?

I'm running WindowMaker 0.95.6 on Arch Linux and having problems with 
adding application Icons to the Dock.



If I drag the icon from the bottom left of the screen over to the Dock 
per the UG:

I don't see the ghost image at all; also when dropping under the 
existing icons if I exit the application the icon vanishes also.



It seems as though the icon doesn't even get put onto the Dock as if I 
drag it in between the two default icons there it just slips underneath.



Could it be that I need to do something with the config or a setting 
somewhere in order to get it to work?

Perhaps your video card driver is updated and reports a second screen.
Could you try a previous package version?

In my case the wmdock is positioned on the right side (starting from the
top) and under the Dock section in the WMState file I have position set
like this:
Position = "-64,0";

Check the position of your wmdock.

BTW, what is the version of your Windowmaker?

I am using windowmaker in ubuntu 10.10.
My question is:
if a docked application has to be launched through a
sudo
command, for example "synaptic", then what command has to be written in the

I have simply written "synaptic %s" in the textbox setting but after having 
run the app by click on the dock a message appears saying that the application 
will run without administrator pvileges.
How can I run a "docked application" also using sudo command?

hiding the dock

Is it possible to hide the dock in window maker?

The reason i'm asking is that i'm also using gworkspace, which
also has a dock.

You can hide the gworkspace dock (because sometimes the
gworkspace dock has confusing interactions with the window
maker dock).

I would like to experiment with hiding the window maker dock
as well, and showing the gworkspace dock.

(This is hardly urgent, and i can certainly understand a design
decision that says there's always a dock.  But i couldn't find
the answer by googling, so that's why i ask.)

PS: one thing i notice from using window maker is that it
apparently does not automatically build ~/GNUstep/ and
subdirectories.  Again, this is not too important for me, as
gworkspace does, and i can certainly use mkdir myself
anyway.  But wondering if there's some reason here (such
as a policy not to make directories or something like that).

different than the final command. For example, if the user uses an script with 
the command inside, wmaker only see the command inside the script, not the user 
command.

This is your problem, you run "wine " but wmaker see "C:\..."

While the problem is solved, you can run your application using:

wine "application_path"

If you installed the application in wine, probably you should run:

wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/foobar2000/foobar2000.exe

Include the command in the icon...

Unable to dock a WINE application

"C:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe"' and I also have menu
item created for it.
But when I dock it's icon to the clip, in icon's settings I see only
"C:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" and of course application
doesn't start.
Adding 'wine' command before quoted path doesn't help.

Any ideas?
