I had the same problem a minute ago (damn IE).
And I used the script mentioned above but it doesn't support background
images (online inline AFAIR) so I found this:

It's small, it's effective! Of course, for the background images.
BTW. I am a begginner from Poland and it's my first post here so big HELLO!

P.S. You could take a glance at http://www.szczotka.net where I struggle
with scrollbar (effect of cross-browser fixed div) under IE which should
to my mind be in his ordinary place, namely, leftmost (where normal
scrollbar is usually placed) Sorry page is in Polish.
