[WSG] div auto scaling question
hello all, Im probably doing something stupid, How can i get div class=text to auto scale to full space between div class=image and the edge of wrapper1. This is to accomodate different image widths. The hang up is I also need a max paragraph width of 200px. Right now the when i set the paragraph width the div just scales to that width. Basically i want the div class =text to scale fit the surrounding horizontal space not the content inside. xHTML like this div id=wrapper1 div class=image/div div class=textp some body copy here/p/div /div And CSS like this #wrapper1{ width:760px; margin: 12px 20px 0 0;} div.image{ margin:5px 0 0 1px; float:left; padding:5px; background-color: #DD; border: 2px solid #D1CBAE; } div.text{ margin:5px 23px 0 0px; padding:9px 5px 5px 9px; float:right; border: 2px solid #D1CBAE; background-color:#DD;} p{width:200px;} also i tried max width if you need a visual here it is http://www.mcmonagle.biz/newindex5.htm -best kvnmcwebn ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list getting help **

[WSG] Styling legends and fieldsets
This really is a rhetorical question born of frustration, but why is the styling of legends and fieldsets so bad across browsers? Why can't you, visually, place the legend wherever you want? Even just being able to place it above the fieldset without overlaps and having the legend sit halfway on and halfway off the fieldset background would be nice! Is there any technical reason why this can't be implemented by browsers? It would certainly help in producing accessible forms if we didn't have to say, we can use legend and be properly accessible, or we can use heading and be able to place it where we want, but we can't use legend and place/style how we want.
