[WSG] Fieldsets Legends

2008-10-03 Thread ClareLewis
Hi,

I'm trying to educate developers to add fieldsets and legends to their
code when building applications. Jaws 5.0 handles fieldsets and legends
in the form field dialog box but jaws 9.0 doesn't. I've spoken to
freedom scientific and they say this
Therefore, there is really no setting in JAWS 9.0 that can be changed
to cause the List of Form Fields dialog to behave in the same manner as
it in JAWS 5.0.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter or know of any software
that does support fieldsets and legends!

Thanks

Clare

Can you explain what problem you are trying to solve? You can't change what
user agents people have, so what is your objective?

[WSG] My Sites

2008-10-03 Thread Marvin Hunkin
Hi.
at http://startrekcafe.stevesdomain.net and
http://www.freewebs.com/startrekcafe, had to close the sites, because of
copyright issues, and over the next several months will have to track down
the copyright owners, for my school projects, and my own hobby site, and get
written permission to use their material on my sites, for personal and non
profit business.
now, can any one recommend, how i go about contacting them, like tried
sending a message to the owner of the star trek epguides info page at
http:///startrek.epguides.info
and my friend ron payne, email,[EMAIL PROTECTED] and
http://paynelessdesigns.com, says, he will have to go and find which images,
he created for me for my star trek page, and which ones are his and others,
and also, uses the text for my synopsis , for each episode for the five
series.
any one got any thoughts.
did contact some one the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list and a solicitor, and
she deals with copyright issues on the web.
and she said i should shut them down, or risk being prosecuted or sued by
people, because of breach of copyright.
let me know, what i should do next, on or off list.
cheers Marvin.

Re: [WSG] Fieldsets Legends

2008-10-03 Thread russ - maxdesign
Hi Clare,

Roger Hudson recently wrote a detailed article on legends and fieldset -
including a series of movies showing both JAWS 9 and Window-Eyes 6.1 in
action.

The article is here:
http://www.usability.com.au/resources/wcag2/

The relevant movie is here:
http://dotsub.com/view/0064d19b-a8da-4729-86f7-a45aaa5bdd57

If you watch the movie you will hear JAWS 9 clearly reading out the relevant
legends (at 2:25 of the movie).

When Andrew goes into forms mode, the screen reader says:

Participants name colon edit

Participants is the legend, name is the label.

You can also here the legend being read our in association with each
checkbox item. For example:

Areas of interest pottery checkbox not checked

Areas of interest is the legend, pottery is the label, and the item is a
checkbox.
