[WSG] IE bug?

2007-09-19 Thread Stijn Audooren

Hello,

I have a little trouble with IE :-(. Don't know if someone can help me or
if you know anybody who could help me fix the problem...
Don't know if this is a bug or something wrong from my side. I try to
explain:

I've made a website (www.tessadockers.be) and in the item agenda the
pictures don't come always on the screen visually. After refresh,
everything looks fine. In FF there is no problem. In IE (tested in 6 and
7) the images are on the right place, but they are not always immediately
ready to see. If you go over the image (or the place where the image has
to be) the alt-text is shown. Don't think it's the peekaboo. It's not the
first IE problem of course, but I just can't fix this one right away :-s.
Don't know if I explained the problem properly. If you have questions,
please ask.

Pages with the problem:
for ex.
www.tessadockers.be/agenda/september.htm
www.tessadockers.be/agenda/augustus.htm
www.tessadockers.be/agenda/juli.htm
www.tessadockers.be/agenda/juni.htm
...

Why doesn't everybody uses Firefox ;-)?

Hope someone can help me with that. Thanks in advance!!!

Betr.: Re: [WSG] IE bug?

2007-09-19 Thread Stijn Audooren

Hi Karl,

Thanks for your reply. It's not working overhere so I will give some more
details... maybe this can help?

Just tried in IE7 overhere and for ex. on page
http://www.tessadockers.be/agenda/augustus.htm I only see the first 5
pictures (in blue content part). There are three pictures not visible:

23 augustus 2007, 21 augustus 2007, 19 augustus 2007

In http://www.tessadockers.be/agenda/juli.htm for ex. I see the first 4
pictures. That means 10 pictures are not visible at this moment. After
refresh, everything looks fine.

I have the reflex to refresh, but most of the users don't. So in the
meantime we have a lot of complaints.
If you want to test, you need to clear your cache again, because if you go
twice to a page everything will work... Not every visitor will refresh or
is going twice to one page of course :-(.

Betr.: Re: [WSG] IE bug?

2007-09-19 Thread Stijn Audooren

Well, that's the problem... the images are not turned off. When I was
surfing around to find something that can be helpfull I did see a lot of
people having the problem of images turned off.
But in my case: I see some of the pictures, so... And don't have problems
with other websites and images.

There is no script or flash or... to show the images. I was thinking it's
a positioning problem or something like that. A problem with div's?
First I thought I could fix it by placing each image between p/p.
Position relative maybe referencing peekaboo was another option. Well, I
tried a lot of things, but without a working solution.

In which case Stijn, I would guess you have images turned off in IE - try
all
the menus or maybe an IE user could help.

There are two options for displaying text instead of images in IE see
screenshots of both at

Hello,

Don't think this is the problem :-(. I checked a page and it's about 7

seconds to load, checked some images and these are around 60kb. (I did

already save for web in Photoshop, but I understand it's possible to

reduce more if that's necessary, but don't think that's the solution for

the problem). The big picture at the top is big indeed, but this is

visible in every page.
Tried at home (cable) and at work (DSL).

Hi,

I noticed your images are pretty large. Are you on a slow bandwidth

connection like dial up? I know IE gives up if something doesn?t download

within a specific time period (I believe it is 60 seconds by default ?

could be wrong about the default). You could try bringing your images into

PhotoShop or similar package and ?save for web?. I took one image and

reduced it to less 1/10th it?s original size with no loss in quality.

Best Regards,
Kepler
