[WSG] Code Validation

2005-04-15 Thread InfoForce Services \(Angus MacKinnon\)
I see that someone else modified all my HTML code. Other than the !DOC type
... line removed except for the main index file, the W3C valildator seems
to like the HTML files. Is this an endorsement of web standards?

Re: [WSG] Skip Navigation Visibility

2005-04-14 Thread InfoForce Services \(Angus MacKinnon\)
This brings up a question. How effective are Skip navigation links? I have
heard that half the people do not understand what skip navigation links are.
I design web sites to get to the main content or with very few links until
the main content.

[WSG] Writing a business plan for the creation of a web site

2005-04-12 Thread InfoForce Services \(Angus MacKinnon\)
This is probably off topic for this list. So please reply to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] I have been asked to write a business plan for the
creation of a web site and have no idea where to start. Could someone please
send me some pointers or better an actual business plan so I can see the
structure. Thank you.

[WSG] A web page crashing FireFox 1.01

2005-03-24 Thread InfoForce Services \(Angus MacKinnon\)
I have been working on upgradeing http://choroideremia.org to web standards.
When I use FireFox 1.01 to go to http://choroideremia.org , my PC crashes
and all I can do is a cold boot. Anyone know why?

[WSG] I hope this is not off topic, W3c validation error

2005-03-07 Thread InfoForce Services \(Angus MacKinnon\)
I hope this is not off topic. If it is, please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I am starting to get very fustrated. When I try to use the W3C validator for
an HTML file, I keep getting the following error.

Line 13, column 53: there is no attribute alt

lia href=http://asic.bc.cx/asic_history.php; alt=ASIC historyASIC
history/a/li

You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document
type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This
error is often caused by incorrect use of the Strict document type with a
document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the Transitional document
type to get the target attribute), or by using vendor proprietary
extensions such as marginheight (this is usually fixed by using CSS to
achieve the desired effect instead).

This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the
document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported
attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for
further information.

How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute,
(Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed
in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute.
