[WSG] Degradable AHAH

2005-12-19 Thread infopre

Hi guys,

I've developed two examples of Degradable AHAH,
that works with and without enabled javascript.

First example is a dynamic include of html :
(1).
http://www.gizax.it/experiments/AHAH/degradabile/test/articolo_degradabile.html

Second example is a LiveSearch :
(2). http://www.gizax.it/experiments/AHAH/degradabile/test/liveSearch.html

I have developed a javascript function that pass form parameters in GET or
in POST.
If javascript is disabled application works correctly.

What do you think about ?

regards,

Daniele

Running the page through the translator at babelfish.altavista.com was
good enough to translate the text. Looks good.

A few suggestions:

1) The site could fit at 800x600, but the fixed margins make it too large.
2) Consider using text with background images for the menu and footer,
instead of images of text. This would reduce file size and make the
site useable by people who can't or won't view images. If that isn't
an option, at least provide alt attributes for the images that contain
text.
3) I'd recommend replacing multiple br / tags with margins or padding.
4) You have more than one element with the ID cent. Use classes
instead, and your site will validate.
5) Use headings such as h1 and h2 instead of symantically empty
elements such as div id=header

Thanks a lot :))

Re: [WSG] Improvement on Flash Satay

2005-07-20 Thread infopre

I like flash satay method,
but you can insert a tag image like this example

object
type="application/x-shockwave-flash data="" width="400"
height="300" param name="movie" value="example.swf" /
img src="" width="200" height="100" alt=""
/ /object

so browser that doesn't
support flash plug-in, shows the alternative image
"noflash.gif"

[ http://www.gizax.it/vtre/tutorial.php?valore=2lingua=IT] sorry, but isin italian language
:-D

cheers

  I quite like it,
  what do you think?

Re: [WSG] Improvement on Flash Satay

Yes, but if you have flash plug-in, you cannot see alternative image.
So, the only reason is that when you don't have flash installed, browser
shows you image with alternative description.

Hi

The idea of the cascading object tag is to place alternate
*descriptive* content that reflects the intent of the content the user
can't access, rather than a no flash image.

Hi all,

So far I¹ve been able to avoid using Flash but a site I¹m working on uses a
few flash elements (like a slideshow).
I¹ve been googling around but besides the alistapart article on Flash-Satay
I¹ve not been able to find another method of embedding flash in a page so
that it still validates.
Does anyone with more flash experience have any suggestions?
(I'd like the pages to validate to XHTML Strict or Transitional)
Thanks in advance,
Erwin Heiser

Hi Hope,

if browser doens't have plug-ing, you can insert a tag image
with alt attribute that describe use of flash in your site.

If you are interested to create an accessibile flash site,
this is for you http://www.macromedia.com/resources/accessibility/

I have a page containing this code:

 object type=application/x-shockwave-flash data=images/hmpg/hmpg.swf
 width=722 height=80
 param name=movie value=images/hmpg/hmpg.swf /
 /object

It validates as xhtml 1.0 Transitional.

My question, however, is how do I make it accessible? What is the Flash
 equivalent to the alt attribute?
