IE Compliant --- Why would u advertise that!?!?!

Aeh...so, what's this in relation to? A proper subject line,
or maybe even a bit of context, would help...

Without any further information, assuming this is a thread
starter rather than a reply to some previous conversation,
I'd say: you advertise it (for a certain CSS technique or whatever)
to signify that it will actually work in the dominant, most
commonly used browser, and it's not something that only the
enlightened elite will be able to use/appreciate...?

2005-05-27 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
My bad, it was early this morning, i was a little hung
over!!
It was in relation to the deepbrowser that some one posted
about, they wanted to know if it was just a wrapper for IE.
The website advertises the fact that there browser is IE
compliant.
I was under the impression that IE compliance meant that it
was as buggy and bad at rendering HTML.
The fact that the subject line was missing is pure user
error. For that i can only apologise.

Someone wants a short phrase for an ad, and it ends up telling different
things to different people. Don't know if the phrase was expanded upon,
but it does not always matter if it is or not, since so many just read
headlines these days.

Short phrases are just that, and I think most of us can read between the
lines and further into the matter, if we need to know more.

The word compliant only says so much anyway, and it may indeed mean
compliant with a buggy browser-engine. Sure doesn't mean that for the
majority of web-users yet, so it may work as an ad. Guess we have all
seen weirder ads than that.

Since most web sites also have to work in IE, one can say that they all
are IE Compliant even if few would advertise it. That includes the W3C
site, which actually more or less 'standardize' it as backward
compatibility. Funny how one can play with words.

Georg

If a Web _site_ advertised that, I'd take it as We hacked the crap
out of our code so IE users can see it too.
