2007-12-14 Thread Michael Horowitz
Anyone know a good online resource or book that discusses how to decide
the best color combinations for use on the web.

not trying to be cute, but go to an art supply store and buy a color wheel.
a color wheel will show you primary, complementary, tertiary, etc. colors.
it's a great tool for finding colors that work together.

2007-12-14 Thread Dave Woods
Hi,

Principles of Beautiful Web Design is worth a read, not only for the
information on colours and the theory behind is but there's also plenty of
other useful design information especially for web developers who aren't
from a design background.

http://www.principlesofbeautifulwebdesign.com/

There's also plenty of colour combination websites about, only have this one
in my bookmarks though...

http://www.colorcombos.com/

Hope that helps.

Dave

Most online resources about how to decide the best color combinations
are put together by programmers and coders who know even less about
color than you. The library is full of books on color theory.
A practical method is to find sites you like, and use a color picker
to pull color from them. With time, your skill with doing spins on
these will improve. As will your sensitivity to color both on and off
the Web.

Best,

~dL

there's a lot of good information here:

section)

(and if you're on windows I can vouch for the ColorImpact Software - I
used it a lot before switching to OS X, and I'm still looking for
something as nice)
