I tend to use the contrast analyser found here:

http://www.paciellogroup.com/resources/contrast-analyser.html

which acts as a colour blindness simulator but I haven't encountered any solid
links regarding research in preferred colour schemes.
Best of luck!

2011-05-10 Thread Lesley Lutomski

Hi Carl,

I also don't have a definitive answer - just another suggested tool.

I use the Colour Contrast Analyser from VisionAustralia -
http://www.visionaustralia.org.au/info.aspx?page=628 It includes a
simulator to give you an idea of how your site will look to someone with
various forms of colour-blindness - and even to someone with cataracts.
It's designed for Windows, but also works on Linux under Wine.

HI

According to your site use the pestle color themes. This will give you a
good contrast for the easily readability for the aged persons. This theme
also give you a good color theme also.

Hi.
In terms of this, white text on a black background is what some people
prefer, but black text on a white background is proven to be the most
readable according to some research that was done.
In terms of colour schemes it comes down to your branding strategy, but the
best way is to test a few out with various people with disabilities, of
various kinds to make sure items are readable.

Hi Seth,
I don't have exact info for you, but have a look at Section 3 of this document:
http://www.texthelpdownloads.com/Mir
ror/pdfs/DyslexiaAndWebAccess.PDF
And also WebAIM
provides a Colour Contrast Checker: http://webaim.org/resources/contrast
checker/
which is quite useful.
Kind Regards,
