I had a client with OS9 who were using Netscape 4 (!), and I got them
to upgrade to Netscape 7. The later builds don't support OS9, but
earlier ones do, so if you look around you should be able to find one.

From memory and a quick look at http://browsers.evolt.org/ does not show any
OS 9 Firefox versions.

Best bet for a standards based OS 9 browser is Mozilla 1.2.1 from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/releases/old-releases-1.1-1.4rc3.html#1.2.1

an alternative is Netscape 7.02 from:
http://browsers.evolt.org/?navigator/mac/7.02

I did find the Opera version for her.
http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?platform=macver=6.03

I'd like to give her both options. Is there a Safari version for OS9?

Thanks

As far as I know web browsers for os9 are limited

however against my expectations you should be able to get a build of
firefox / mozilla

here
http://www.mozilla.org/download.html (scroll to the bottom of the page)

safari camino are only supported in osX as far as I know.

Re: [WSG] firefox for OS9?

2005-08-05 Thread Terrence Wood
If you need to support OS9 then the best browser on that platform is
IE5/MAC.

There are builds of Moz 1.4 and an unsupported 1.7 (I think from
memory).

Opera V6/MAC is not very good on IMO, and lot's of web sites appear
broken in it - I don't recommend it.

kind regards
Terrence Wood.

As Sam pointed, the most recent Gecko builds that run on OS 9 are the
Wamcom builds, or the ones created by Harunaga Hirotoshi. The latter
being a variant on the former. Both are based on Gecko 1.3.1.

...

One additional browser that runs very nicely on OS 9 is iCab. Older
versions had poor support for CSS. The latest public release, iCab 3.0
beta 280 has *very* good CSS2.1 support. It runs well on OS 9, even on
older machines with low CPU power and not much memory.
