code which will do what you want :-)
Feel free to remove the $(document).ready wrapper if you're including it at the
end of your DOM as shown. Adjust it for your library of choice if you prefer

I would remove the clear rule below copyright p tag, and change the bottom
frame of the bg image to a new div with background position: left top, then
wrap the copyright p tag and all the ULs starts from navFoot in this new div.
e.g.

You could fix this by putting the gecko image after the hr and positioning
