I also experience this slowdown, running debian testing on a quad core Q9550 with plenty of ram and a separate nvidia graphics card that does not use shared memory. No other drivers besides those included in the dist installed afaik. Running firefox with a few tabs open does not cause any

The slow down  may also be caused by a too slow CPU.and/or low system memory. I run PKS reporter, WSJT-x + MSHV at the same time (together with more power hungry programs like SUN SDR or SDR console,  which actually can use a Nvidia GPU for FFT) on an old second generation I7 without any problem.

Your computer possibly uses memory sharing with video, in which case installing more should reduce the symptoms. Pete G4PLZ On 16/01/2018 15:51, Philip Gladstone wrote: One of the pskreporter users reported that when he runs pskreporter and wsjt-x then decodes are much reduced. If he turns

Hi Philip, WSJT-X knows nothing about GPUs and makes no use of one. I run PSKreporter alongside WSJT-X all the time, with no noticeable effect on decoding performance. -- Joe, K1JT On 1/16/2018 10:51 AM, Philip Gladstone wrote: One of the pskreporter users reported that when he

One of the pskreporter users reported that when he runs pskreporter and wsjt-x then decodes are much reduced. If he turns off the night shadow in pskreporter, then decode performance returns to normal. I suspect some type of GPU issue as the night shadow in pskreporter uses WebGL to render the
