On closing and restarting rc5 after 1.9.1 has mode jumped, as noted below
rc5 waterfall has the appearance of mode having jumped.
If I then close and start 1.9.1, the waterfall is normal.
On then closing 1.9.1 and restarting rc5 the waterfall is normal.

I have had a first look at rc5 from JT65 EME perspective.
I have not yet looked at the mode jumping fix.
