As suggested I deleted the build tree and re-ran jtsdk v2.0.18.
Everything is now working as advertised and I’m currently running a build of
r6391 on the G5 PowerPC so I guess the build tree had
become corrupted in someway.

I am not a JTSDK expert but that sounds like the build tree is not
properly configured or maybe the 'make install'/'cmake --build' is run
from or specifying the wrong working directory.
