Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X 2.6.0-rc2 - possible bug (WSPR messages truncated)

2022-07-25 Thread Roger Newey (K7GXB) via wsjt-devel
Hi de Uwe,

I installed version “rc2…bug_fixed” over 2.5.4.

The first Tx cycle ended erratically (on/off/on/off) at ~63 secs, 2nd cycle at
~21 secs.

I’m not thinking this is the bug you are working on!

Reinstalled 2.5.4 over “rc2 bug fixed” -> stable Tx cycles.

FYI both rc1 & the rc2 exhibited occasional erratic Tx cycle terminations; also
a few times, ‘TX Enable’ became Unchecked.

/Thinks: Possibly on my rig, 2.6.x may have different RFI effects than 2.5.4

System is Win 10, IC7300.

Hi Josh,

We believe we have found and fixed the bug that was causing WSPR transmissions
to stop after about 90 seconds under certain conditions. I have prepared a new
tarball for you that includes this bug fix. You can download it here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/wsjt/files/wsjtx-2.6.0-rc2/Tests/wsjtx-2.6.0-rc2_WSPR_bug_fixed.tgz

I have also created a 64-bit Windows installer that contains the same bug fix:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/wsjt/files/wsjtx-2.6.0-rc2/Tests/wsjtx-2.6.0-rc2-win64_WSPR_bug_fixed.exe

Would be nice if you could give us feedback if it works.

WSPR mode. Receive cycles are timed correctly. The transmit cycles end after
90 seconds, instead of going for 2 minutes.

The release 2.5.4 version of WSJT-X does not have this issue.

Uwe, Joe,

Built the rc2_WSPR_big_fixed tgz on Fedora Core 36, 64-bit. The latest
version still truncates the WSPR transmit period at 90 seconds.

Hi Uwe

please note that the .desktop files in the wsjtx source tgz file appear
to have changed from termination to which causes rpmbuild to
fail on Fedora Linux. Not sure why this happened but it has never
caused this failure in the past so I'm assuming it is something new.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for reporting this bug, which I have been able to reproduce.
We'll track it down ASAP.
