Yes it would be a small subset. The dual instances would not help against fade
in middle of reception periods but would help if directional antennas are used
that would have different patterns. You could set it up where the active
instance of WSJT-X switches TX automatically.

I concur with K1JT that it would be a tiny group of users who would benefit

You can run two instances of WSJT-X, each fed with a different DAX channel. One
on Antenna 1 and the other on Antenna 2 (with 6600 & 6700 models only since
they have dual SCUs).

You would need to pick the one with stronger signal.

Flex Radios definitely support diversity reception. The 6600, 6600M and 6700
have the necessary dual receivers.

In conventional use, we expect the user to route one signal to one ear (via
stereo headphones), and the other signal to the other ear. It would be common
for phase and timing differences to be present, which the human listener may be
able to use to better discriminate the information in the signal. Whether the
WSJT-X program could make similar use of signals of that type is an interesting
question.

Looking through the list archives, I see this topic came up a few years ago
but wasn't answered.

Elecraft (and Flex?) radios enjoy the ability of diversity reception, with
split-phone capability to choose the stronger of the two original signals
from separate antennas.

Can the decoder engine of WSJT-X be modified to harness this, if both the
left and right channels of a stereo signal were fed to it? What about two,
but separate mono channels?
