Thank you for the quick reply. I have gnome-flashback installed, but I
don't know how to trigger it from x2go. When I log in from VNC into a
gnome flashback session and do ps aux to find out the command that
triggered the session, I see this:

Same here. KDE works but Gnome session fallback doesn't.
With Ubuntu 13.10...
*gnome-session-fallback *
has been replaced with:
*gnome-session-flashback*
Gnome Flashback is a session for Gnome 3 which was initially called Gnome
Fallback, and shipped as a stand-alone session in Debian and Ubuntu.
It provides a similar user experience to the Gnome
Package: x2goserver
Version: 4.0.1.6-0~712~saucy1
