http://xastir.org/index.php/HowTo:DBFAWK
I looked at the geofabrik.de files a bit for WA. There don't appear to be
land-mass layer or lake layers, but otherwise they look good. I have roads
and water layers displaying already but the dbfawk's could use more work.
Will see if I can get the initial
With regards to this latest digest note from Curt, is there a wiki entry
somewhere dealing with making / modifying dbfawk files?
I still have my Tigerline maps from 200x vintage for all 254 counties in
Texas. I recall having to make a few changes some time ago, but I've
slept since then. ;-)
There used to be ready-made Mac OS X builds of Xastir, but I’m not sure what
happened with that effort.
Any input on this? Or should I just pull sources and build my own?

With a quick reading it looks like the Tigermaps from 2007 to 2015 are all
the same format, but please someone correct me if I'm wrong. If that's the

Here's one place it appears you can get OSM Shapefile extracts:

I'm currently using online maps: "Online/OSM_tiled_mapnik.geo"
You may have to hunt for an OSM extract in Shapefile format. I used to use
the "cloudmade" extracts and still have the ones for WA on this computer I
think.
You should be able to get quite a few different ones that use ESRI
Shapefile
That was fast! (and easy).

Hello Everybody,
I am returning to using xastir after a fairly long period of not using
it. I have it compiled and running with everything except GDAL support.
I have tried to get some offline maps but most of the links I have found
seem to be dead. Could somebody please point me to a source
