I just grabbed the latest code from git and compiled, then was able to
run the script. It works fine with the exception of one file it cannot
find.

Disregard, I grabbed the latest script from git and it works.
However, there was one error:
nzip: cannot find or open fz25jn18.zip, fz25jn18.zip.zip or
fz25jn18.zip.ZIP.

I ran the get-NWSdata script today after someone mentioned to me that
it was not working for him. I received the following error:

I use IPv6 natively. I also used it when I updated the Cygwin content on
the wiki and noticed no issues.
Fail2ban does currently support IPv6, I am running it.

I am now connecting to an IPv6 javAPRSSrvr by hostname as expected.
This is a great feature. I will leave it running for a bit to see if
there are any issues.
Thanks to Jason!

I can connect to my local IPv6 javAPRSSrvr using IPv6 when I specify an
IPv6 IP address. However, if I use a host name via DNS, it connects
via IPv4 even though an IPv6 connection ought to take precedence.
This is on an Intel x64 system running FC27.

The updated Cygwin instructions should work just fine with any full Windows 7
or higher. But as Curt indicated, I would not expect them to work on one of
the limited tablet Windows releases. That would depend upon whether Cygwin
itself works on those platforms.

@K5DAT Lee, both Cygwin and Win 10 Windows Linux Subsystem both support
serial ports.

Apologies for sending the file to the list, I meant to send it just to

Just for posterity, the fix is in.
What I ended up doing to to check any wx alerts marked as not
compressed for the needed underscore in the first title. If not
present, we now assume that the alert is actually compressed and put it
through the compressed code.
So uncompressed as well as
OK then. I think I figured things out and the fix is not that bad.
I'll fork the code and work on it.
@Curt, your comments really helped me. I backed out what appears to be
the temporary fix. My test cases now work.
The key is to make use of the - or _ as the 4th char in the

Upon further testing, there is bug in the current implementation if the
intent is to conform with AE5PL's spec.
On his page at http://www.aprs-is.net/wx/, Pete states that:
zcs are comma separated zone codes or county codes (see the databases
linked to the left to find the zone or county code
your own!"
Curt, thanks for taking time to respond and clarify. It is just what I
needed!

This is a followup to my prior post on Xastir Weather Alerts.
There seems to have been an undocumented change in practice in how
counties and zones or counties are identified in alerts. The comments
in Xastir alert.c state that:
// the first 2 letters are the state or marine zone (1st field
//
I've developed a NWS CAP protocol parser to inject local weather events
into APRS. In doing so, I spent much time researching the required
format of such a message.
I found detailed comments in alert.c. I also found a document from
WB4APR (http://www.aprs.org/APRS-docs/WX.TXT) that was updated
