Well, it depends on what hardware you are using. If you are running on an old Sparc system, with a single slow CPU, perhaps the speed is normal. It may also depend on the compiler you are using. The Sun Forte 6.2 compiler is quite good in generating optomized code. But an old Ultra-Sparc box wit
