But what do you mean by "it does work and does not work"? If it used to work,
then it should still work ;-)). Can you send some more info about what goes
wrong and where, and maybe an example input file?

It works and it does not work on several fonts for me. I have been using
otfinfo -a fontname.otf
and
otfinfo -p fontname.otf
to get the font name for setting /fontspec command.

The error indicates that the particular font is not found as part of the
system-wide fonts. Then, xelatex tries to generate the font in the
old-fashioned way, and this fails. This means that you are using the wrong name
