A disk image mounter is available in a GNOME program named
`gnome-disk-utility`. It adds an "open with" entry in Thunar for ISO images and
some other formats.

I think it is well suited because its dependencies are modest (example in
Debian https://packages.debian.org/stretch/gnome-disk-utility), and does not
overlap with XFCE which doesn't have a udisks2 disk management program. It is a
solid tool that only depends on udisks2/gconf and common libraries.

I don't know if XFCE maintainers are okay with recommending a tool from another
desktop environment, but that could simply be added as a FAQ item
