Hello!
I have a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer with a new wheel, which supports up 
and down as usual and banking to the left and right.
This horizontal scrolling is my problem, because it does not work with X.

My X-Version: 4.3.0 (Gentoo -r3)

I checked what "xev" has to say about the left/right-wheel:

KeyPress event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0x1a00001,
root 0x7c, subw 0x1a00002, time 1771677, (51,41), root:(556,59),
state 0x0, keycode 196 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:  "" 

This is the only thing that appears when I use the new wheel. Nothing changes (except 
position if I move and the time, of course). There is no difference between scrolling 
left and right. This events occurs several times per second, when I hold the wheel.

My current XF86-Config:

Option "Protocol"    "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device"      "/dev/usbmouse"
Option "Buttons" "9"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "8 9"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
Option "Resolution" "400" 

I noticed "xev" prints out something new to me, whenever I press the first (left) 
mousebutton:

KeymapNotify event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
keys: 125 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 

The "125" changes to some other numbers, but I don't get the system.

I tried "ZAxisMapping a b c d", but it does not work, since my mouse has no "buttons" 
at this place.
