Hi,

I have a small network of computers like so:

+--------+
+---------------+ /--------\ (wireless:) / #######/| MacOS X 10.2
\/\ADSL/\| eTec Conectix | | Apple | : : : : : : : +--------+ | XoX (X11R6 -XFree86 Darwin)
| Router |==Ethernet==| Airport | : : : : : : : | Apple | |
+---------------+ | Base | | G4 | |
| Station | +=Ethernet==| Cube |/
\_________/ | +--------+
+--+--+
| Hub | +---------+
+---+-+ | 486DX66 | Mandrake Linux 6.5
| | PC | XFree86 (X11R6)
+=======| |

+---------+

So ACSII Art's not dead ! Anyway, back to the point.

The PC and Mac are connected directly via an ethernet hub. The Mac shares it's internet connection with devices on it's
own ethernet port. The PC can see the internet via ethernet<--->cube<--->airport<--->adsl and I can telnet between the
two machines over the local ethernet and internet. I can even see the PC from another machine connected independently
to the internet, but I CAN'T start an X-client window across the local ethernet link !!!!

When I try to start xeyes (for example) on either machine locally, no problem - the zany thing appears !

When I try to start xeyes on the PC to appear on the Mac's display, the command seems to hang there for ever and no
eyes appear on the Mac's display.

When I try to start xeyes on the Mac to appear on the PC's display, this is what happens:

/Users/davey >> DISPLAY=192.168.2.4:0 xeyes
Xlib: connection to "192.168.2.4:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Error: Can't open display: 192.168.2.4:0

The same happens if I try 192.168.2.4:0.0 as the display. What's happening ? I did an xhosts +<ipaddress> on both machines
(with DISPLAY set to :0.0 ) with the other's IP addy, but no improvement ! What else do I have to do ? or Am I missing something
here ??

Puhhhh-leeeeazzzze help!

Cheers,

Davey
