Further development... After disconnection of the S-Video cable from my TV
followed by a reboot I could start XFree86 with output to my monitor. As
soon as I connect the S-Video cable again and reboot I can't start
XFree86.
Is XFree86 incompatible with TV-out on Radeon 9000?

I have recently bought a Sapphire Radeon 9000 128 MB Atlantis video card
which is based on the rv250 chip. In XP this card works wonderfully with
ATI's Catalyst drivers.
Under RedHat 8.0 on a PIII/900 I haven't got it to work at all except with
the VESA driver, which naturally doesn't perform
