Type Xconfigurator and follow onscreen instructions for reconfiguring your display card and everything will work out fine. Soon after just restart your computer and not just the service but the reboot command. I got my startx screen with that command. Regards, Callisto Mupfunye Technical

No, the X-server runs with root permissions and it's not safe for it to be executing other processes. You can get XEvents for screensaver events, however, so you could have a background processes that waits for these, but the screen- saver coming on isn't quite the same thing as DPMS. This
