I have S3 Virge GX cooperated with 3dfx Voodoo2
here is the detail specification:

- Chipset: Virge
- Model: GX
- Manufacture: Compaq / S3
- Video Memory: 2Mb
- Bus Type: PCI

+ Chipset: Voodoo2
+ Manufacture: Skywell / 3dfx
+ Model: Magic 3D II
+ Vide Memory: 12Mb
+ Bus Type: PCI

both of them is placed on Compaq Deskpro 4000,
powered by Pentium 200 MMX, the OS is FreeBSD 4.5.

The problem is, If I use the Virge driver (like S3V).
when I start the X server (via startx, xdm, etc), it
is very noisy, glitchy, lot garbage (not comfortable
for eyes). Then if exit from X server (via CTRl+ALT+BKSP,
halt, etc) the console screen is getting crumple (unreadable).
I had tried to change the Xfree version from the distribution
bundle (XFREE 4.1) and from xfree86.org (Xfree 4.4) and the
result isn't better (no different).

But if I use the Generic VESA driver (Xfree 4.4) the result
is perfect.

I also tried to use the Xfree 3.x S3V driver to replace
the Xfree 4.4 driver, the result is good but when exit the
console screen also crumple like the 4.x.

The question is.
1. Is there any tips/hint/cheat to solve the problem ?
now I use generic VESA driver, but i prefer using S3Virge
driver if possible (not glitchy, noisy, etc about bad look)
2. How to make my Voodoo2 is usefull. I mean, can be used by
GL based games/application (such as Clan Bomber, GL Tron, etc).

currently i use XFree86 version 4.4, thanks for the help
and sorry if my english isn't well.
