Your X server is too old. It was released before the SiS 650/740 was. Options: 1) Download an updated driver from my website and explicitely state Driver sis in your XF86Config-4 (because the ati driver during probe thinks it identified some ATI chip). 2) Run Debian sarge (testing) or unstable.
