I have an i845G running XFree86-4.2.99.3 and faced the following problem.
My linux console is put in 132x30 mode in the following way:
'vga=291' bootparam (132x60) and then 'setfont UniCyr_8x16' from one of
/etc/init.d/ scripts.
When I run X and then switch back to console - either by
