Hi Liam,
To fix the Acceptance of NULL sender error message you need to set
AllowNullSender 1 in the server.tab file.
To fix the Reverse DNS entries for MX records error message you need to
speak to your ISP about setting up a reverse DNS entry for your server.
To fix the Acceptance of
Hi,
is there any way to have XMail accept e-mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED]
as required in RFC1123 5.2.17? No problem for [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks,

There was a thread just recently that detailed it.
In MailRoot/cmdaliases, create a directory of [194.23.239.3]
in that directory create a postmaster.tab
in that file add the following
redirect[TAB][EMAIL PROTECTED][CRLF]
you could also create abuse.tab with the same content.
Works fine for
Hi All,
Really though, I'd like to know why you need to AllowNullSenders.
Should we, or shouldn't we, that is the question.
If we really should, then why is it configurable.
and if we shouldn't, what are we potentially missing out on (or blocking).

Davide, you really need to read to the bottom of the message, If it was my
domain, then yes I can do what you say.
I will repost my previous question so you can re-read it.

Hi All,
There is an RFC which says that a mail server should be able to receive mail
addresses as follows:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Where 1.2.3.4 is the IP address of the mail server.
With a little configuration xmail does this.
BUT,
Xmail can't send
I was under the impression you needed to accept email from nullsenders =
so
you get your delivery reports if you have them switched on in your email
client software.

Because postmaster messages are sent from null sender.
And because you'll be listed in one of several black lists if you

Hi all,
is there anyone who can help me with xmail configuration? I need to set up
xmail for following scenario:
I have two domains domain1.com and domain2.com.
I have one server with two IP addresses, MX record for domain1 points to IP1
and MX for domain2 points to IP2.

I'd like to know why you are asking for help from the Xmail forum for an
Imail server?
In Imail SMTP Security Tab, check Allow Null Senders.

To disable relaying empty the smtprelay.tab file of all IPs except those
you do want to relay ANY mail from.
To forward mail for a specific domain (domain2 in this case) create a
domain.tab file in custdomains with the following line:
smtprelay address of other server
That's all you have to
nullsender is not only for delivery report notification, in some cases =
it is
also used by some mta's to report other type of failures.
So you need to accept nullsenders if you want your users (and sometimes
internal mta logic) to receive all error reports
The MAIN PROBLEM with this RFC

Glad that someone picked that up :-)
After I sent the message to the list, I remembered that the mailserver I
run is not for gzd.com.au, it's for gzd.gotdns.com!
But the question was valid for several of my clients.
Thanks for the responses :-)
