[xmail] reflecting config file changes

2012-09-18 Thread U.Mutlu

Does xmail have a reload option to just reload its config files
into memory without stopping/restarting the program?

Which of the config files (ie. the *.tab files) do not require
a restart/reload after modifying the file?

Hello

No reload option

Files change that need xmail 'reload' (in fact stop/start) BEFORE changing
them are whose that are 'indexed' (refer doc for complete list but if I
remember they are domains.tab, aliasdomain.tab mailusers.tab, aliases.tab
and extaliases.tab)
All others, can be changed on the fly without 'reload', as they are read on
each use (could some be only read at start of xmail, don’t know, no info in
doc, perhaps server.tab ? in this case I always stop, change, start to be
sure)

Regards
Francis

2012-09-18 Thread Bart Mortelmans

Hi,

(could some be only read at start of xmail, don't know, no info in
doc, perhaps server.tab ? in this case I always stop, change, start to be
sure)
server.tab can be changed while xmail is running. After a couple of
seconds xmail will start using the new information (it does take a
little bit of time, so don't pannic if after half a second things
haven't changed).

For the indexed files: it's best to edit them through the CTRL-interface
(either socket or command line). In that case there is no need to reload
XMailserver to load the new configuration.

Sincerely,
Bart
