I get Xorg crash / segfault at start very often using an Intel card.
Crashes happen either on boot, X does not start and output a Backtrace in
Xorg.log, when resuming from standby or when switching VT about 10 times.
Is it just me or do people just don't care about X crashing multiple time a
day?
After resuming from standby or leaving the computer locked for a while
I come back and I get a partial video freeze, the mouse cursor moves
but won't change from pointer to anything else. The rest of the
display is completely frozen but I still have access to the computer
remotely and SysRq keys

Your symptoms exactly describe a wedged GPU. There is a very good chance
that a 2.6.31 kernel would fix your issue.
This issue last since 2.6.27 introduced KMS and with every kernel
release I hopped it fixed the problem,
I have the same problem, it happens when I switch from 2.6.30-rc7 to final
2.6.30, I can still go back in 2.6.30-rc7 and get the correct display. It
appears to have a TV connected but disconnected at the same time, my
desktop margins are stuck at 1024x768 however I have my full 1280x800
available.
