It seems that openSuSE factory doesn't offer the version 1.7.x of the
X11 server. Is this true? Is there a repository which I can use
instead?

Do you also have problem panning in GIMP and having multiple display

What exactly do you mean with `done'? `git submodule update' still
doesn't give any output so I assume that none of the submodule gets

git submodule update checks out the current state of the index for
each submodule. did you run git pull first? (or git pull --rebase)
Aah,
The second release candidate for server 1.7.1 is now available.
This release includes a couple of patches to make the server work on alpha
and a number of patches for Xming and Xwin as well as other fixes.

I want to compare the graphical output of different versions of a

contents of the program's (single) X11 frame directly to a file -- a
kind of automatic capturing without manual selection of the window.
Can anyone give me hints

Folks,
it seems that X development is tightly bound to bleeding-edge releases
of the Linux kernel. I still have a 2.6.27.21 kernel on my machine,
and I want to know whether I really have to update my kernel to test
the xserver and, in particular, the intel graphics driver. For
example, I've
I've seen in the intel announcement that they only support UXA now.
But, AFAIK, this needs support from a kernel 2.6.27. Is this
correct?
No, the elimination of EXA and XAA was delayed until UXA worked
without any kernel support. Of course, it works better with GEM in
the kernel.
Aah,
[xorg git build two hours ago]
I used the attached script (which is an extension of what can be found
at http://wiki.x.org/wiki/Development/git) to build an xserver on my
GNU/Linux box (SuSE 11.1 running kernel 2.6.27.21); I then start it
with
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/x11/lib
Indeed, doing
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/x11/lib \
ldd -d -r i915_dri.so
gives

Apparently the build script is missing something. Please advise.
I found the problem. My mistake was that I erroneously
