Looks like I ran headlong into bug id=57303.
following the same process I have been on for a week or so now I do the
following :
aster $ rm -rf xorg/
aster $ rm -rf /opt/xorg/*
aster $ mkdir -p xorg/util
aster $ CONFFLAGS=\-\-with\-udev\-rules\-dir\=/opt/xorg/udev
aster $ export CONFFLAGS
