I'd be interested in someone trying Fedora 12 with EXA on crappy hw it should
work fast enough, at least I can use it on my T42, haven't really compared it
with XAA though.

Confirmed: the radeon module was already in the system together with radeonhd;
so I simply changed the Driver string in the xorg.conf and now everything works
well.

 You're using the radeonhd driver, but this mailing list is about the
 radeon driver.

It should be as simple as to change the driver from radeonhd to
radeon in the device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

The dmesg output

Hi!

When using glxgears on top of IceWM (CVS Head) on Mandriva Linux Cooker with:

* kernel 2.6.32-desktop-1mnb

* xorg-x11-7.5-1mdv2010.1

* x11-server-xorg-1.7.3-1mdv2010.1

Then after closing the window, X hangs and the keyboard becomes completely
repsonsive. I have an ATI Radeon HD 2600 card (AGP) and I'm using it with DRI
enabled. I'm attaching the dmesg output, and will soon attach the Xorg.0.log
file (which seems OK) and my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

I also think that X hangs after I switch to the virtual console and back, but
this is another bug.

Regards,

I didn't see an option for the AGP mode, and I increased the AGP aperture size
to its maximum (256 KB (or is it MB) from 64 KB). It didn't help.

 If not, does:
  Option BusType PCIE

This does help. However, now I'm getting visual artefacts with the mouse

Many thanks!

This indeed solved this problem, as well. Just for the record, one needs to add
it to the Device section.

Now it seems like all my X-related woes are hopefully gone and I can happily
use the radeon driver with partial 2-D/3-D acceleration, switching to a virtual
console, etc. Now to fix the KDE problems.

Thanks again! ♥

Releases question

2009-12-16 Thread Tomáš Chvátal
Hi,
I would like to ask you to start considering creating some rc/beta/alpha
snapshot of upcoming driver series 6.13 (or what ever you decide to call
it).

There are quite few users trying to test the KMS features and i was
pointing them out to our live package for ATI drivers, but i think it
might be more convinient to provide some snapshot for them (commits
fixing the KMS behaviour in the driver itself are not so common lately
so it might be possible).

Cheers

We might have an ABI break on libdrm_radeon to make it maintainable
which would make having any sort of released tarball a pain.

when we move the kernel driver out of staging it should all trickle down.

I've been testing this for a couple days now, and haven't had any freezes, and
X behaves properly. I've noticed that when I try to switch to a VT, the VT
doesn't show up properly (I get a blank black screen), but when I switch back
to X, X shows up properly.

I'm using Xorg 1.6.5, Debian kernel 2.6.31-1-amd64 with a non-framebuffer
console (/proc/fb is an empty file).

--- Comment #17 from Josh Saddler nightmo...@gentoo.org  2009-12-16 23:09:45
PST ---
This is now fixed as of kernel 2.6.32, and the following git versions:

libdrm: edc77dd291594e017ca0ee96a785412107ebff74
mesa: 3ff688ea299581e60caf5d6e1a464f68c717fe83
xf86-video-ati: 299d395bd3f294239dee58ab7d607d7d2c657f61

These checkouts are all from December 14. After removing the
EXANoDownloadFromScreen option from xorg.conf and rebooting, there's no longer
any corruption.

So I dunno what happened between then and now, but I like it. Good job, and
thanks. :)
