I'm using FreeBSD 4.5 and recently picked up an ATI Radeon 7500 (64MB).
According to ATIs website and the xfree86 page, this should be supported
by Xfree86 4.2.0. So, I need to upgrade from xfree86 3.x to 4.2.

I backed up my old /usr/X11R6 and used the Xinstall.sh script to update to
4.2. However, I can't seem to configure the card correctly (either the
monitor goes out of range, X won't start at all, or terribly elongated
picture). Couple of questions:

(1) When using XF86Setup or xf86config, I don't see the ATI Radeon 7500
listed in the card database. Is there another card name I should be
choosing?

(2) I don't know the RAMDAC/etc..? Should I leave the probed values or
try and find these out? SuperProbe doesn't seem to come up with the
correct card memory or things like that.

(3) I have an LCD monitor with horizontal (31.5-80) and vertical (56-75)
ranges and i'm using the DVI connector. Would the LCD be complicating
things?

(4) Anyone had success using the ATI Radeon 7500 and FreeBSD? Want to
weight in with a successful procedure? ;)

Thanks for any help,
--Ben
