Just a minor, but annoying, quibble with the Xinerama option, that
being images on the root window don't show up properly on the 2nd
head. I'm running at 3200x1200 resolution and tried using various
programs like xv, xpmroot, and the background options in several
window managers/desktop environments; in all cases the image
displayed on the second head is exactly the same as that shown on
the first, and not the right half of the image as it should be.
Rather than try to explain this further, please take a look at this
screen shot taken while running XFree 4.1.0 (56k):

For totally unrelated reasons, I was demoing XiG's server today and
just for fun decided to see if it worked as expected, it did. Here's
a comparison shot (78k):

This seems to indicate that the problem isn't with any applications
not being "Xinerama aware". The only thing I've found to work at all
under XFree is Nautalus, but that's because it uses a fullscreen
window that lies below everything else, but above the root window.

Using xdpyinfo shows only one screen, but looking at the XFree86.log,
there is some mention of both Screen 0 & 1. I can post both outputs if
requested.

Other misc info:
RedHat Linux 2.2.14-5smp kernel
Matrox G450
2x Sony F500R

Any ideas on how to make this work?
