Avoid running as root. File permissions will be divided between root and
you, especially if you link your dropbox account to other computers or
devices.
To fix the permissions problem:
> Dropbox permissions fix (when running dropbox via sudo)

> sudo dropbox stop

Same here: my Dropbox icon only works when running as root (sudo dropbox
start -i).

And, I got my lenovo desktop up and running with Xubuntu 17.04. Power
management issues from 16.10 and 16.04 are gone. Thanks.
