You're right about T-bird, it took an extension to get it to use Chrome.
But I've had it happen with software that has no such configuration. For
example, just this evening with Areca backup.

Is there a way to force a user ID to be entered (with no history

You are indeed correct. It was a cat5 (not e) cable which should've been good
enough at one meter, but after replacing it I'm connected at 1 gbs.
