this resolution related behaviour is "normal" as during installation the
Xserver in use is Xsun whereas at reboot time, it is Xorg which behaves
differently
Once you are in the 2000xsomething mode try pressing
simultaneously the following 3 keys
Ctrl
Alt
Minus-from-the-numpad-not-the-one
