[yocto] Issue building meta-toolchain

2012-02-21 Thread John Toomey

Hello all,

I am getting the following error when trying to build meta-toolchain:

NOTE: Resolving any missing task queue dependencies
   ERROR: Nothing PROVIDES 'libx11-nativesdk' (but

virtual:nativesdk:[path]/jtoomey/poky/meta/recipes-graphics/libsdl/libsdl_1.2.14.bb
DEPENDS on or otherwise requires it)
ERROR: libx11-nativesdk was skipped: X11 not enabled for this DISTRO
NOTE: Runtime target 'qemu-nativesdk' is unbuildable, removing...
Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['qemu-nativesdk',
   'libsdl-nativesdk', 'libx11-nativesdk']
NOTE: Runtime target 'task-sdk-host-nativesdk' is unbuildable,
   removing...
Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was:
   ['task-sdk-host-nativesdk', 'qemu-nativesdk', 'libsdl-nativesdk',
   'libx11-nativesdk']
ERROR: Required build target 'meta-toolchain' has no buildable
   providers.
Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['meta-toolchain',
   'task-sdk-host-nativesdk', 'qemu-nativesdk', 'libsdl-nativesdk',
   'libx11-nativesdk']

I dont really need or want X11 but the toolchain seems to depend on
parts of it.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Regards,
John

right behind you guys so thanks for blazing the trail. I have other
TI parts to work with but starting with first BeagleBoard (
BeagleBone) since that is the reference.

Was this an happy ending story? Where you guys successful in building
 meta-ti layer under Yocto umbrella?

It's still in the air at the moment. Texas Instruments are going through a
process to abstract meta-ti layer into a pure BSP and cut out all the distro
specific features. When this is complete then it will be good to go in Yocto.

If you look at the archives of the meta-ti mailing list there has been
 extensive discussions on it recently.

Thanks for pointing me to the relevant discussion. I joined meta-ti list too
now.

Cheers,
Andrea

I'm guessing this is because we haven't tested building meta-toolchain when
x11 has been removed from DISTRO_FEATURES; at minimum it seems we would need
to fix the libsdl recipe to be able to build without libx11 when x11 is not in
DISTRO_FEATURES.

Would you mind filing a bug for this in the Yocto Project bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org)?

Thanks,
Paul

[yocto] Bugzilla Downtime and Upgrade February 24th

2012-02-21 Thread Michael Halstead
We will be upgrading Bugzilla and moving servers on Friday February
24th. Traditionally Friday after 3pm PST is a low usage time and ideal
for an upgrade. The Saturday after gives ample time for recovery in case
of exceptional problems.

Here is the timeline, I'm setting aside a 3 hour window but only 30
minutes should be needed.
3:00pm Current Bugzilla goes down and DNS is changed.
3:30pm Bugzilla is back up and available for use. I will update the list
with any new information.
4:00pm bring up a read only copy of Bugzilla 3.x for comparison and
troubleshooting.
4:00-6:00pm repair any issues found in real time.
6:00pm Fall back point, if 4.x is having problems this is when we will
revert to version 3.6.
