Re: iCal Linking to Yojimbo Items

2007-08-13 Thread Wolfgang Kunckel

Here you go:

tell application Yojimbo
set my_selection to the selection
repeat with an_item in my_selection
set my_id to id of an_item
set my_url to x-yojimbo-item:// my_id
set _comments to comments of an_item
add tags {iCal} to an_item
tell application iCal
tell calendar WOK_Privat -- enter name of your
calender
make new todo at end with properties {due date:current date,
summary:name of an_item, url:my_url, description:_comments}

end tell
end tell
end repeat
end tell

Make a script, put in /Users/YourUserName/Library/Scripts/Application/
Yojimbo.

Have fun

I'm having no luck

says I can confirm that Address Book behaves strange. Yojimbo URLs
in iCal work as expected though.

but there's no info I can find about how to get Yojimbo URLs

Invalid Parameters?

2007-08-13 Thread Bobbie
A new user e-mailed me a ZIP archive containing a Web archive exported from her
Yojimbo. As received here, the export is an RTFD file. The ZIP has the unlikely
file name Unknown Parameter Value.

The sender used Allume's Stuffit Pro to create the ZIP, and the name must have
been created by Stuffit. I don't have Stuffit available to confirm that though.

When I attempt to e-mail the Web archive (un-zipped) from my desktop to yet
another party, Mailsmith 2.1.5 refuses to accept the enclosure. There is no
error message when dropping the icon into the enclosure pane; it just bounces
out. However, if it is dropped onto the MS icon in the dock, then this error
appears:

Invalid parameters were detected for an operation (Mac OS Error code -50).

The original file opens and views OK on my receiving Mac in Yojimbo and in
TextEdit; opens but nothing shows in TextWrangler.

Is this incompatibility of the Yojimbo export with Mailsmith a bug, a feature,
or a quantum mechanical act? Or could it be that the user somehow extracted the
Web archive incorrectly from Yojimbo?

Thanks --

It's a function of the document format; an RTFD document is not a file but
a package (folder), and thus can't be attached directly to a message.

(PS: Since a web archive is a monolithic file, if you got an RTFD, either
the original item wasn't a web archive, or some sort of conversion must
have taken place after the item was exported from Yojimbo--possibly during
creation by StuffIt but I don't have a copy to hand right now to check
either. :)

As there is no such thing as StuffIt Pro and never has been (it's
StuffIt Deluxe), I have a feeling that your user has more terminology
problems than he or she may be letting on, and may not have performed
the procedure you are imagining to create the file you received.

You got that right, Matt :-) I telephoned the sender and got a step-by-step of
the actions taken to create the Web archive. It isn't.

However, the Pro incorrectly substituted for Deluxe is my own error. I
haven't used the Deluxe version of $tuffit for years, had misremembered the
name.
