Re: insert date/time into Note

There is a service (for your services menu) from our friends at Devon
Technologies that provides the ability to insert date/time or
variations thereof using a key combo. And it is FREE. It is located
here:

http://www.devon-technologies.com/files/WordService.tgz

It also provides some good text formating functions.

I do too and SpellCatcher is actually what I use for this even though
I suggested QuicKeys and Butler. SpellCatcher is my favorite utility
especially if you need to spell check in more than one language.

John:

Thanks for these great suggestions.
I tried them out and like typeit4me.
This is even better than what I was looking for as it works across all my
applications - even works in iTerm when logged into my Linux server - slick!

You could do it with AppleScript, but I use TextExpander:

http://www.smileonmymac.com/textexpander/

so that I can use the same shortcut to insert, say, today's
date, in any app.

TypeIt4Me is another good option:

QuicKeys is another great tool for this sort of thing. I'm not sure
if Butler can insert dates but it is another great tool for building
shortcuts.

It would be nice if the date & time info got stored in the meta data
of the note every time an entry is created.

But that already happens: see the 'Date Created' and 'Date Modified'
columns (View menu). Hopefully, we will be able to use this
information if a future version of Yj supports 'Smart Folders'.

then you could have a folder called "stuff added last week" "stuff
added last month" etc.
